Wise words from Coach Matt!
When living the paleo life, we must remember a couple of rules if we want to see the results and benefits of this nutrition.
- You MUST workout. Eating healthy is one thing, but you must burn calories by creating lean muscle and jacking the heart rate up to see a great benefit. Sweat everyday!
- You can eat as much as you want ONLY of certain foods. Eat as much as you want of lean meats and green veggies.
- Foods to watch out for:
- Fruits: if losing weight is your goal, stick to no more than 1 serving a day. While fruit has many great nutritional benefits, it is still sugar and energy you need to burn off
- Nuts and Seeds: a snack is a serving (a handful or less) not the whole bag!
- Sodium: salt keeps weight on you, watch high sodium levels. While we are cutting out processed foods (which are the higher sodium content items) we still need to be aware of how much we add to our food.
- Don't go crazy with the almond//coconut flours - we must still portion control items containing nut flours. No more than 1-2 x a day.
4. Lastly I see a lot of people go wrong because they don't eat enough We must put proper nutrition in if we want our body to burn calories. Not eating is one of the words things you can do for yourself. This is not a crash diet, it's a lifestyle. Eat a lot of the right things!
Easy tips to know you have a good meal:
- Where is my protein?
- Where are my essential nutrients coming from, how green are my veggies?
- Everything else from there is portion controlled (fruits, nuts, seeds, etc)
